To probiotic or to prebiotic
Let’s start with the Why?
Your gut is the only way your body can receive its necessary nutrients to function. So if your Gut is NOT healthy, you can see why there are very visible and noticeable side effects to health and well-being.
Poor gut health where your gut struggles to absorb nutrients is known as a; “leaky gut”.
What is a Probiotic?
Probiotics are live bacteria and there are up to 1,000 species of bacteria in the human gut microbiome.
What is a prebiotic?
A prebiotic is a non-soluble fibre food of which the Bacteria feed upon. The more food the healthier the bacteria as well as the more likely they multiply.
What is a healthy gut?
A healthy gut microbiome is the right balance between the many species of bacteria in the human gut microbiome and having enough healthy bacteria such as Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli. Both of these bacteria are found / common in probiotics / probiotic foods.
Having a the right balance of bacteria especially good bacteria helps:
- Seal gaps between intestinal cells to prevent leaky gut syndrome,
- Support digesting certain foods,
- Preventing disease-causing bacteria from sticking to the intestinal walls &
- Can reduce symptoms of IBS
What is Microbiome therapy?
Microbiome therapy is the practice of consuming; either through foods or supplements both probiotic and prebiotic foods. Symptoms of poor gut health:
- Eczema and rashes
- Acne
- Allergies
- Low energy and fatigue
- Constipation
- Sleep issues
- Contribute to anxiety & depression
- Contribute to weight gain or sometimes even weight loss in some

If the above is a bit of an effort D3B has both Probiotics & Prebiotics :-)
If you feel you have extensive gut health problems or even leaky gut such as significant fatigue ect you have a few options:
- Try high doses of microbiome therapy diet (I even suggest double dose D3B for a 4 week period). If this doesn't resolve your problems.
- You can get your gut microbiome tested, which will provide detailed analysis of what is happening within you gut microbiome and most places provide an associated customised plan to manage the exact issue.
